Eddie Used ChatGPT For Parenting & Bobby's Advice For New Parents | 106.3 The Bear

Eddie recently tried something unconventional when his son announced he wanted to quit all sports. Instead of reacting immediately, Eddie turned to ChatGPT for guidance. He typed in the situation, asking the AI for a calm, thoughtful response to a kid who suddenly loses motivation. The result surprised him. ChatGPT suggested asking open-ended questions about what the child actually enjoyed about practice, rather than pushing back or forcing a decision. Eddie admitted the advice was solid, though he still felt weird taking parenting cues from a chatbot.

Meanwhile, Amy shared a story about her son falling for a classic sales tactic at a school fundraiser. The kid came home convinced he needed to buy overpriced wrapping paper because the salesperson made him feel guilty for saying no. Amy had to explain the difference between supporting a cause and being manipulated into a purchase. She joked that her son learned a hard lesson about peer pressure disguised as charity.

Bobby then offered wisdom he picked up from watching friends become new parents. He said the best thing you can do for new moms and dads is not give advice unless asked. Instead, show up with food, offer to hold the baby so they can shower, and keep your opinions to yourself. He stressed that unsolicited tips often make exhausted parents feel judged. Bobby also noted that new parents appreciate honesty about how hard it is, not cheerful reassurances that everything will be fine. Sometimes, he said, the kindest thing is just saying, "This part sucks, but you will get through it."
